The 1.1.0 version of Race for the Money finally worked its way through the review process. Enjoy these great new features:

  • Adds support for symbols other that $ to represent your fiat money. Let us know if you’d like to see others!
  • Added support for race values higher than $1. Are you ready to become a high roller?
  • Launching the app now takes you to the last race you were in.
  • Improved the performance of the History tab when dealing with a large number of races.
  • Fixed *many* display issues in showing the status of a race.
  • Other minor interface tweaks.

Player Appreciation Bonus: Triple Treat!

Race for the Money

To celebrate our third week in the App Store, we’re crediting all of our early adopters with another $3 to play with in-game! Also, all new accounts receive a $3 balance to start with! How can we do it? Witness the Paradox of Enrichment in action!

Player Appreciation Bonus: Double Down!

Race for the Money

To celebrate our second week in the App Store, we’re crediting all of our early adopters with another $2 to play with in-game! That’s quite the “Rip off” on our part!

And as an added bonus, all accounts are now interest bearing! Play it smart and you’ll never have to purchase additional funding, even if you keep losing. Just don’t go bankrupt (always good advice)!

Wonder what week 3 could possibly bring . . .

Some news that was supposed to go on the blog actually got put on the Race for the Money site by mistake. I’m moving it all here. Future news should all be on this blog.

Just one day after we started a Game News section, we’re closing it. Why? Because we completely forgot that’s what we planned to use our blog for! So we’ll keep this acknowledgment of stupidity for a few more hours, and then it’s off to the blog and back to this site being not much of a web site.

Player Appreciation Bonus

To celebrate our first week in the App Store, we’ve credited all of our early adopters with an extra $1 to play with in-game! If you made some mistakes, this is your chance to "begin again, more intelligently". And even better things are coming in the second week, so tell your friends to start playing now!

There are reports of sniping (i.e., last-minute bidding delays aren’t always working). We’re looking in to whether or not this is a server issue or a problem with the app. Let us know if you think you were affected (give your account name, the date/time of the race, and how much your losing bid was). Thanks for your patience and understanding in working through these early bugs!

Reports of bids "going backwards" have come in. This appears to be a display/update issue on the app only; the server seems to be recording the actions just fine. Let us know if you think a race you were in did not end as expected. We’re already working on an update for the app to fix some other glitches and add many new features. Stay tuned!

As much fun as we had dipping our toes in the water “way back when” in putting out a mobile web app, and as much fun as we have doing development that brings other people’s visions to life, today we can finally say we put something in the Apple App Store under our own name:

Race for the Money

Our experience with Objective-C pre-dates the iPhone and even Mac OS X, but only recently did we settle on something we decided was a good enough idea to endure the submission process and charge money for it.

It’s just a buck. Give it a go and tell us what you think!
